Phantasie She lives where the vines are unbroken, The vapours are at her command, She lives in a magical land. He comes to her home in the evening, The darkness has hidden his face, It is a mysterious place. When will she take the ring, And swear her love undying? When will she take the light and see Immortal beauty flying? She sleeps in glass, And walks in marble, Her footsteps echo through enchanted halls to the end of days. She hides in leaves, And in the tower of the poisoned rose. She's waiting for that kiss to wake her to a lover's gaze. She sings where there's no one to hear her, Her hair reaches down to the ground, Her voice doesn't make any sound. He waits at the foot of the tower, He waits in the depths of the earth, His promise will give her new birth. When will she take the knife, And cut the thorns that blind her? When will she wake from dreams and see The one who came to find her? She sleeps in glass...etc. And when the dawn comes to the land, She'll know the secret key was always in her hand. She sleeps in glass...etc. Elizabeth Hopkinson |
