Born: Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK. (Home of the Bronte sisters and the Cottingely Fairies).
Educated: Leeds University School of English. I especially liked Medieval Literature, and courses on Romance, Ballad & Fairy Tale and the Arthurian Legend.
First writing: making my own books out of scap paper in wet playtime, aged about 6.
First writing success: winning a "Write a Carol for Christmas" contest aged 14.
First adult succes: getting my own fans for my "Handmaid of Gondor" fanfic series.
Favourite books: Lord of the Rings, Narnia (especially Voyage of the Dawn Treader), Grimm's Fairy Tales, The Christmas Mystery, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Fushigi Yugi (manga series), Gulliver's Travels.
Favourite authors: Juliet Marillier, Diana Wynne Jones, Jasper Fforde, Jostein Gaarder
Favourite artists: Adele Lorienne, Josephine Wall, Kinuko Y Craft, Rob Ryan, and not forgetting my dear friends Andrew Clark, Yuki Aruga and Janet McLelland.
Other likes: dreams, the Yorkshire countryside, Studio Ghibli, bookshops, mocha, learning Chinese, all things North European and East Asian, playing the piano, penpalling, going to museums/galleries and generally enjoying the arts scene.
